Tooth Extraction

While we always aim to preserve natural teeth, sometimes an extraction is the best option for your long-term oral health. At The Tooth Place, our experienced dentists perform extractions with care and precision to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible.

When Is a Tooth Extraction Needed?

Tooth removal may be recommended for reasons such as:

- Severe decay or damage beyond repair
- Impacted or problematic wisdom teeth
- Advanced gum disease
- Overcrowding for orthodontic treatment
- Infection that cannot be treated with root canal therapy
- Trauma or fractured teeth

Simple versus Surgical

Simple Extraction:

- Used for teeth that are fully visible in the mouth
- Performed using gentle techniques and local anaesthetic
- Quick and straightforward procedure

Surgical Extraction:

- Required for teeth that are impacted, broken, or beneath the gum line
- May involve a small incision or sectioning of the tooth
- Sometimes a stitch is needed to aid healing
- Performed under local anaesthetic with additional sedation support if required

If a case is particularly complex, we may refer you to a local oral surgery provider for specialised care.
